On Thursday, the California Legislature, by a 69-3 vote in the Assembly and a 31-1 vote in the Senate, approved an additional five-year plan to keep Diablo Canyon, the state’s single largest source of electricity, open and continuing to operate. Monitored by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the plant was originally licensed to operate until 2025 but will now remain open into 2030. The group Save Clean Energy, which has fought to keep Diablo Canyon open, is cheering the Legislature’s decision....

Last week, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced plans for the state to manufacture its own low-cost insulin to make the drug “available to all” after years of soaring prices. “Nothing epitomizes market failures more than the cost of insulin,” Newsom said in a video posted on Twitter. “Many Americans experience out-of-pocket costs anywhere from $300 to $500 per month for this life-saving drug. The California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) states: “You may receive this payment if you receive the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) or file with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).” To qualify for CalEITC, you must have taxable earned income up to $30,000, not use “married/RDP [Registered Domestic Partner] filing separately” if married or RDP and meet all other qualifications, the FTB advises. The Los Angeles Police Department said they were called to the Adam & Lilith store, located at 6660 Hollywood Boulevard, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, CBS Los Angeles reported. After officers arrived at the scene at around 2.20 a.m., they found the suspected shoplifter had been stabbed after a scuffle with a male store employee, according to the outlet. Police said the pair had an altercation after the woman had tried to steal a sex toy from the store, according to CBS Los Angeles....

According to a recent update, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will add the Death Machine scorestreak, as well as a couple of new vehicles in the second season. Prop Hunt recently returned during Season 2 Reloaded, with Treyarch taking some time to expand on the mode while it was out of the rotation. New maps and props were added, and while fans were excited to see it make a comeback, the realization that a brutal glitch was still doable has killed much of the hype. Found shortly before the mode went on hiatus, it seems like Treyarch did not know that there was an issue with the game’s props....
