On the multiplayer side of things, players will notice a few new playlists have been added, such as Hardcore Kill Confirmed, Hardcore Free for All, and Infected. Besides a number of other tweaks and bug fixes, though, perhaps the most important change coming to Infinite Warfare’s online multiplayer component is the attempt to balance the overpowered Volk assault rifle.
After downloading the new patch, players will discover that the Volk isn’t quite as deadly as it was before. The gun has been nerfed in an attempt to make it a little more balanced, with Infinity Ward reducing its damage range, reducing its hip fire accuracy, and giving it more of a kick when players aim down the sights with the weapon. These changes should go a long way in making the Volk a fairer weapon in the online arenas.
As previously stated, the new patch for Infinite Warfare also addresses the game’s Zombies in Spaceland mode. As is the case with the multiplayer, most of the changes in Zombies in Spaceland are bug fixes and addressing minor technical issues. However, one change Infinity Ward is making to solo play may make the game a bit easier for those that prefer to fight zombies as a lone wolf.
With the new update, players will no longer lose the round automatically if they go down when David Hasselhoff is active. For the uninitiated, celebrity David Hasselhoff can be summoned from the heavens by completing challenges for N3IL the robot, and he helps players kill zombies for a few rounds before blasting off into space again. Since the round will no longer end automatically when playing in solo with Hasselhoff, presumably this means he will be able to revive downed players, which should make tasks like completing the Easter Egg less stressful as a solo player.
For the most part, it seems the changes Infinity Ward is making to Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare are for the better. The overall goal is to make Infinite Warfare as balanced as possible, and hopefully nerfing the Volk gun and making things easier for solo Zombies players will help the studio accomplish that.
