But despite the divisiveness of the game, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is the most highly anticipated video game release, according to a new study. Financial firm Piper Jaffray surveyed a panel of 100 PS4 and Xbox One gamers about the games that they are most looking forward to, with 33% of those responding saying that they were “most-excited” for the futuristic shooter. In second place was EA and DICE’s World War 1-set shooter Battlefield 1, which 26% of survey respondents said that they were most excited for. EA once called Battlefield 1 vs. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare a “fun competition,” but no doubt the publisher would like to see its game in the top spot.

In third place was Ghost Recon: Wildlands (15% of votes) which is set to bring explosive, open-world action to PC and consoles early next year, while in fourth it was a tie between Gears of War 4 and the much-delayed PS4 exclusive The Last Guardian (10% of the vote each). Trailing behind these is Take-Two’s ambitious criminal sandbox, Mafia 3 which got 6% of the vote.

With such a small amount of gamers (and only console gamers too) asked to take part in the survey, it’s difficult to say whether the responses will be reflected in actual sales data once all of these games are released. The results don’t necessarily mean that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will reign supreme, especially when Battlefield 1’s trailer broke records. Moreover, this doesn’t mean that DICE’s new shooter will do well for itself not when Titanfall 2 could impact Battlefield 1’s sales due to the two games having release dates that are just weeks apart. So although the data is something to keep in mind, it’s too soon to put up celebration banners (or sound the death knell) for any of these games just yet.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is scheduled for launch on November 4, 2016 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
