Nuketown’s history with Call of Duty is well-documented, as the map is widely regarded as one of the best locations in the franchise’s history. Known for hectic gameplay due to its small size, the map has remained largely the same since its first appearance in 2010. Outside of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, which saw a wall-running ramp added, any changes have been purely visual. Whether it took the guise of a museum, simulation, or Russian base, no new areas have ever been added — though this could have changed with Nuketown ‘84.

Reddit user iaminphysicalpain appeared to be having a normal game, as their short clip begins with them standing on the stairs in the yellow house. Eventually, the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War player moves to the bedroom, likely planning to take a few shots at the enemy team via the window position. However, when standing in the corner of the room, an unsuspecting teammate forces them through a wall.
Clearly accidental, the bug occurs when the friendly player activates their RC-XD scorestreak. Once down, they back up their car, with iaminphysicalpain finding themselves standing on top of it. While the car backs into the corner of the room, the Redditor is sent through the walls of the two-story house. In the clip, they can be seen floating across the garage door, eventually finding themselves in the hidden room that rests upon the garage itself. While the player may be trapped, the bug does give fans an idea of what lies inside.
Unfortunately, there is likely no unfound easter egg on Nuketown that would unlock this hidden room. As shown by the player’s point of view, it is largely empty, meaning that it was never finished if Treyarch did intend to make it a playable space. Aside from a bit of flooring, 5 windows can be seen on one of the walls. While it would be interesting to see if iaminphysicalpain could shoot through them, it appears that the player is stuck to the room’s back wall. Still, even if it offers no gameplay advantage, the glitch provides a look at Nuketown from a rare perspective.
With the Nuketown map being around for so long, it is amazing that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans were able to find something new. That said, those looking to avoid being trapped in a wall may want to keep away from their teammates’ RC-XDs.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
