Fireteam pits two multi-squad teams against each other in an effort to complete a unique objective. Each Fireteam mission will come complete with a randomized mission, but the Beta is offering only one example: Dirty Bomb.

The game is broken up between 40 players in teams made up of two sets of ten squads. These massive Black Ops Cold War battlefields come with unique missions, like the Beta’s Dirty Bomb offering is available for anyone to test out. The mission is simple, players must collect uranium caches scattered across the map and locate a Dirty Bomb. From there, a player must successfully deposit their uranium into the bomb and detonate it. When a bomb is detonated, it will start to leak radiation into the nearby area. This will score points for the team that ignited the bomb, blocking massive parts of the map out as radioactive hazards.
Arming the bomb might be the easiest part of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War game mode, as players will have to contend with radiation sickness the longer they hold onto uranium. This sickness will start to affect a player’s movement, health regen, and eventually can cost an operator their life.
When players die in Fireteam, they experience the unique Fireteam Spawn system. Players choose whether or not to tactically redeploy onto the map and spawn on a teammate, or spawn into the passenger seat of a teammate’s vehicle. Either way, a player’s return relies on their team not being in combat at that exact moment.
Fireteam is a game mode that rewards creativity and brings Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer to the next level. If the final game is like the beta, fans will find brand new interactions along with moments that standard multiplayer modes can’t account for. The massive maps, team-based design, and extreme missions give this game mode a sense of urgency alongside the fun of playing with friends.
This is only one of several new game modes being presented in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Beta. Treyarch and Activision have hinted at several surprises in store for fans as players embrace the Beta experience over the course of the next few days.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to release on November 13th for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PS5.
